I discovered yoga when I was sixteen. Just a lonely girl in her bedroom learning how to care for herself in a more loving and gentle way. At the time, I was healing my complicated relationship with food and trying to feel at home in my body again. Yoga felt like coming home—something that welcomed me just as I was. It offered me peace, calm, and clarity to reconnect to my body and spirit. The mat began as a place to survive, and it turned into a warm and bright safe haven. Yoga continues to be a source of my hope, healing, and joy!
It was a rainy winter evening in early 2023. I had been taking my practices to a locally-owned studio called Ohana Moon Yoga for almost a year. During this hot yoga class, a dear friend of mine, and the instructor for this class, cued the class to explore wheel pose—something I had always felt too nervous to attempt. I faced that fear, and that experience opened my eyes to how powerful and healing this practice could be. It stirred a quiet desire within me, and as I grew in my practice, so did my desire to inspire others to discover their own power and healing too. I finished my 200-hour certification, and teaching has become one of my greatest joys and opportunities to share the practice that has given me so much.
My story is far from over! My short-term goal is to earn my 500-hour certification so I can continue my yoga education and deepen my love for the practice. The ultimate dream is to open Ananda Sun Yoga in a beautiful studio space—a warm, joyful place for community, growth, and transformation. As I grow as a teacher, I hope to one day guide and support others who feel called to teach, just as I was supported on my own journey. For now, I’m taking it all in. Enjoying one step at a time, and trusting that the journey is where the joy is found.
